If you were told you had two minutes to retrieve what you could from your home before it burned down, what would you grab? For most people, their photographs would be near the top of the list. Items and stuff are replaceable, but moments captured in time aren't.
Jubilant Studios takes great pride in helping you capture those moments that mean so much. We work together with you ahead of our session to determine what you are looking for. We talk about locations and the environment the portraits will be set in (we are so lucky in the Seattle area to have so many options), about clothing and coordination, about poses and types of photos that appeal to your tastes. We custom tailor each session to our clients, and strive to make it a fun and relaxed time that will bring out the smiles naturally, and we provide as much or as little guidance as needed to create your vision.
Our brand of family photography includes both candid and formal posed shots. We know that there is no substitute for a standard posed portrait for grandma's mantle, but we also know that the best smiles are usually caught in between moments, and those are the most emotional and cherished images years down the road. When it comes to our image style, we focus on pleasing composition, beautiful lighting, genuine family interaction, and the beautiful natural environment around us, particularly in the Snoqualmie Valley area. By not relying heavily on trendy editing styles, we ensure your images will always be in style and beautiful.
What to Expect From Your Family Photo Session
Prep: We conduct a pre-consultation meeting with each of our family portrait clients (phone or in person). We discuss family members' ages and personalities, session location and timing, as well as outfits and logistics of the session. If you have ideas you want to incorporate, we are happy to do so. If you want us to plan all the details and just tell you where to be and what to do, we can do that too. Each family is different and we plan your session according to yours.
Photo Shoot Day: We usually arrive to the agreed upon location a little early to set up and prepare for the first photos. For families with little kids, we like to ensure we get a few of the formal poses done first when kids are usually listening at their best. As we move between different areas or poses, we capture photos of fun and playing as well as individual and small groups. We focus on ways to work with specific personalities, and try to keep the experience low stress and fun.
After the Shoot: Within a few days following the shoot we will set up a reveal session, either at our location or in your home, for your to see the images for the first time. We typically view a slideshow with music first, and then review individual images. In addition to receiving digital files, we encourage all our clients to print and display some of their images to enjoy daily, and we have some specialized tools and products to help make this simple and fun. During this appointment all digital files and/or prints will be selected and ordered.
